The new site: details emerge

When I said, previously, that the new site would take a few more weeks, I vastly overestimated the amount of work left to do on it. Or, to put it another way, I didn’t expect everything to go so smoothly. Which is to say: it’s almost ready.

I could just leave everything waiting for a couple of weeks in order not to make a liar out of myself, but that would be a bit ridiculous. Expect the changeover, then, in days rather than weeks.

So, what’s going to change? Well, first of all, this incarnation of the site will move to a new subdomain, where it will remain, archived forever. Hopefully, all the articles will still be available, just under a new address.

This main website will serve as a sort of hub, linking to different parts of the rewboss network, as it were. The blog itself will move to a new address: There are a few posts up there already, but nothing very exciting (and mostly for testing purposes), but those subscribed to my RSS feed might want to hop over there now and subscribe to the Atom feed (link at the bottom of the page).

Why use a blogging platform like this? Well, there are several advantages, but the most important one is that I don’t have to spend time I don’t have trying to develop a method of allowing people to comment on my blog posts. I would have been an interesting challenge, and given time I think I might have managed to create something, but a ready-made solution that is tried and tested (and coded by people who know roughly what they are doing), and allows more effective networking to make it easier for me to market myself, just seems a more realistic approach.

The hub itself will host articles I may write from time to time that should have a more permanent presence.

So, that’s about it. There are a few more things to do, but I wanted to give you all advance warning. Let’s hope this all goes according to plan.
